Official Chrysos Heirs' MBTI (it's bad)

02.10.2025

Yes, you read the title right. There are official MBTI types of Chrysos Heirs. I'm sorry Evernight, but your typings are garbage and I'm here to take them apart. And no, I'm not about to take this very seriously because I know that they didn't. I'm one of the few people in this world who actually cares about typology as something feasible, but that's what makes this funny.

Unfortunately, there is nothing in the report that resembles an attempt at typological analysis, so I can only guess how they arrived at these conclusions. There are only short and completely irrelevant descriptions, but I'll include them regardless. There will be spoilers by the way (obviously).

I'll be using MBTI and Socionics interchangeably because I don't believe they are fundamentally about different things. They are both extentions/improvements of Jung's hypothesis, the only difference being that Socionics does everything better, while MBTI has gone off the track and is better off discarded as failure if one is to do typology seriously.

Castorice - INFP (actually INFJ/IEI)

A reclusive little butterfly, often fluttering away from crowded places. When you find her in a corner, you realize she hasn't missed a single moment, taking to heart all of life's joys and sorrows. "Death" may have stolen the warmth from her palm, but she still gifts the world with beautiful stories full of warmth. This fairy tale collection of the little butterfly, bought at the market, will surely be loved by March.

"When you find her in a corner, you realize she hasn't missed a single moment, taking to heart all of life's joys and sorrows" - That's actually an incredible description of Enneagram Five, if nothing else.

I suppose this one isn't all that bad because in MBTI, INFP and INFJ are basically interchangeable since people type in MBTI using personality traits instead of analysing semantics, and these two types were assigned the same traits for some reason. Good luck differentiating between them. In russian this kind of situation is called "getting lost between three pines" because the solution is right there. Just come up with clearer definitions for functions and the problem goes away. But no, people would rather waste their time trying to find substance in vague one-dimentional stereotypes that were assigned to MBTI types. This mental gymnastics isn't needed in Socionics.

Mydei - ISTJ (actually ESTP/SLE)

He views promises as inviolable principles: Amidst mountains of corpses and seas of blood, his subordinates begged him to retreat first, but he would rather die a thousand deaths than break his vow to live and die together. In daily life, this straightforward prince believes everyone is as honest as him. When someone said to a chimera, "You're so cute, I could eat you up," he immediately scooped up the soundly sleeping creature and ran far, far away.

I have zero idea where they got Si. This man is all fight and might. I suppose the person responsible for this report knows nothing of MBTI besides silly personality tests, but ISTJ Mydei still seems random to me. Even just by going off of stereotypes, ISTP would make far more sense. Even PDB thinks so!

But neither are close to figuring out that Mydei is actually an Extrovert, because no one who uses these terms know that they mean anymore. In the context of MBTI and Socionics, you are an Extrovert if your Base function is Extroverted and you overall possess more mastery over Extroverted functions. That's it. And Mydei in particular has Se and Te written all over him.

Cipher - ENFP (actually ESFP/SEE)

The Trickery Demigod's treasury is filled with countless wonders, each one hiding little secrets she's reluctant to reveal. Most of the time, this little Dolos kitty lives like the free-flowing wind, taking endless delight in running circles around everyone. However, she's occasionally seen in the distant desert, sighing alone at the moon. Perhaps she's still yearning for that city where the sun never sets.

Ah yes, Intuitives, known for being all about treasure and money. Hell no. But ENFP is still better than PDB's ENTP Cipher. Absolutely diabolical. Speaking of which, ENTP is one of the three types absent in HSR so far (unsurprisingly, all of them are Peripheral). Anyway.

Here we see Intuitive bias at play (and not for the last time). I assume this has something to do with her ability, but there really is no connection to functions. It's just something she can do. Themes of trickery and 'lies becoming reality' has more to do with type Seven of the Enneagram (which Cipher has in her tritype) because that's what they do to their own brains as a defense mechanism. Other than that, Cipher is a bona fide Base Sensing type, preoccupied with earthly matters.

Hyacine - ESFJ (correct!)

Warm and healing, like a little pink cupcake. I bet March would love her courtyard. Everything's so neat and cozy, and you can't help but want to drift off into sweet dreams on the lounger.
When I'm away, if March feels troubled... why not have afternoon tea with her? After all, even the gloomiest person can't help but smile when they see Little Ica.

Nothing to say here since they guessed correctly. By accident, of course, as Hyacine just happened to be a stereotypical ESFJ. As the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Shame they didn't give Phat Phuc a type, though (these two are 1F buddies for sure).

Phainon - ENFJ (actually ESFJ/ESE)

What started as a small gathering turned into a packed house with no seats left. On his way there, he'd bumped into the antique shop owner, a Kremnos soldier, and even a bath attendant. He'd warmly asked each about their lives and extended the same invitation: "Wanna grab a drink?"
Strangely enough, the gathering was filled with joy and laughter. Only the greengrocer expressed concem, questioning his obsession with Flame-Chasing, given the uncertain future and slim chances of survival. He smiled and said: "Even if there are countless possibilities of futility ahead, as long as that single hope exists, it's worth giving it my all."

Close enough. But he's not an Intuitive. Phainon is a Sensing type with a somewhat developed Intuition (suffering for millennia for the sake of the universe and having beef with god will help develop your Intuition). Such a mistake is expected, seeing how MBTI doesn't make this distinction, so everyone assumes that people of the same type use their functions on the same level. When in reality, your type only tells you the kind of tools you have at your disposal. What to do with them, is up to you.

People notice a bit of Intuition in Phainon's speech and immediately terminate their thought process, so they wouldn't notice the countless times Phainon used Sensing instead. You know, like that cutscene where he pushed through galaxies with his bare hands... That's the kind of metaphor you use for a Sensing type. Intuitives are more classy than that The metaphors of Intuitives are arcane, full of abstract forms and impressions. Is that what Phainon is doing? I'm not seeing it.

Aglaea - INFJ (actually ISFP/ESI)

The long pursuit of Flame-Chasing had hardened her heart, like that of the Imperator back a thousand years ago. Now she caresses the old blueprints as if touching a stranger's relics. Yet in many past mornings, she had run barefoot through corridors, rejoicing in the elegant garments she'd crafted through sleepless nights. In the empty chest cavity of the mannequin, there once dwelled a butterfly that trembled only for romance and beauty.

This one's so random I don't even know what to say. Just completely off. She has nothing to suggest Intuition. Also, I feel the need to point out that PDB is currently debating between INFJ and ESTJ, you know, two completely opposite types? And neither are even remotely close. How does this even happen??

Anyway, Aglaea is undoubtedly a Fi type. But this function is so poorly understood in MBTI that people have no hope of defining it correctly. In short, Fi is about the subjective in the realm of all that is human - "interpersonal politics", if you wish. Compare that to Fe, which is about the objective in the same realm, and could be summarized as "aesthetics of the human". Do I need to explain which one is Valued for Aglaea?

Cyrene - ENFP (actually ENFJ/EIE)

I love her pink hair. In forgotten years, a withered petal still remains, stubbornly and tenderly repainting the world in romantic pink.
I know how lonely the back of the silent world can be, where she is now... She must have traversed countless dark nights alone, clutching those treasured memories: Love, touching moments, the compassionate companions she once shared, and... the lone star that illuminated her heart throughout the night.

Even PDB got this one right. How do you screw this up? The writer of this report must have come across some really bizarre version of MBTI.

Anaxa - INTJ (actually ENFJ/EIE)

His sister once gave him a mechanical singing bird. He loved it so much that the next day he took it apart into pieces scattered across the table, excitedly explaining its logic to his sister, but ultimately couldn't put it back together. Looking at the remains, he pondered for a moment and said, I have deciphered its essence. A soul that values rationality above all and verifies everything firsthand. But once trust is earned, he offers unwavering loyalty without question.

I love this story, very cute. Some Ti and Intuition are present ("deciphered its essence"), with a sprinkle of Psychosophy's Process Logic ("excitedly explaining its logic to his sister"). "But ultimately couldn't put it back together" despite claiming to understand it, because his Ti is actually low-dimentional. Not sure where they got Te, but INTJ is hardly unexpected considering all the stereotypes.

Cerydra - ENTJ (correct!)

A ruthless, domineering personality that only cares about results, cold-hearted to the point of inhumanity.
After a military defeat, Cerydra locked herself in the study for three days. Leaming of this, Hysilens remained silent, only standing at a distance with her violin. This comfort was unfamiliar to the Imperator: It could neither intervene in the war nor illuminate reality. Yet it was this gentle, wave-like care that dissolved the emperor's unease in her gaze.

"A ruthless, domineering personality that only cares about results, cold-hearted to the point of inhumanity." - I hope this isn't supposed to imply some kind of inherent evil in ENTJ because that's really not how it works. Only the "ruthless" part can be vaguely attributed to Se. "Domineering personality that only cares about results" is more about First Will in Psychosophy, while "cold-hearted to the point of inhumanity" is a subjective evaluation that's got nothing to do with typology.

Hysilens - ISFP (correct!)

The feast-bound sea siren princess may not understand fancy clothing and jewelry, but she takes meticulous care of her appearance down to every strand of hair until she's absolutely radiant. "How far along are you?" Aglaea asked impatiently. "Just doing my bangs," she replied.
I remember her solo that night: An endless sorrow swallowed her whole, and even after the last note faded, she stood frozen, her spirit still adrift. She offered selfless loyalty to the sovereign in her heart, yet still couldn't see her own reflection.

It's kind of incredible how they guessed Cerydra and Hysilens being Duals, completely by accident because there's no such thing as intertype relations in MBTI.

Tribbie - ENFJ (actually ISFP/ESI)

In everyone's eyes, each encounter between the Children of the Prophecy and every Chrysos Heir was destiny's gentle nudge. But what I saw... was them waiting at that fated corner where paths would cross, welcoming every lost hero with genuine smiles. The cat, the lion, the little butterfly... they are the tenacious bonds that weave all our destinies tightly together.

"Tenacious bonds that weave all our destinies tightly together" screams Fi. But the mistype is understandable because Feeling isn't as well understood in MBTI as Ethics is in Socionics. At least they guessed Tribbie being a Base Ethics/Feeling type (would be hard to miss this so not really a W). And yes, another false Intuitive. Sensing types are a dying breed indeed...

Conclusion

It kind of irritates me when big companies use MBTI for whatever purpose, because it's never in good faith and only serves to drag the reputation of typology though the mud, and it was never regarded highly to begin with. Oh well, just my luck having my biggest interest be a branch of psychology that gets unreasonable amount of hate every time it goes trendy because of misuse by companies looking to make a profit. Not to gatekeep of course; I don't mind it when individuals play with the idea of 'personality types' without ever intending to make it scientific. But these companies are making my job more difficult.
